i don't dig mushrooms.

this was my new year.

it was pretty much perfect.

we got into scarborough about 3pm on the wednesday afternoon. after waiting about half an hour at the bus stop in the freezing weather (and my case being blown over by the wind) we shared a taxi with 3 other lovely people and a dog named leon (he was beuatiful and incredibly well behaved). when we got to whitby we checked in at bagdale hall, which is apparently the oldest building at whitby. the rest of the night was spent wandering around the bay, eating fish and chips, drinking red wine and making the most of the AMAZING room.

the next day consisted of frightened rabbit over breakfast, all of the sights and sounds (and smells) of whitby, breaking into the abbey, buying a quill pen, drinking hot tea next to the big lighthouse and standing under some massive whale jawbones. i managed to pick up loads of beethoven from a charity shop and then we set off for robin hood’s bay. as you can see from the photos, the view from the hotel room was stunning, honestly one of the best views i’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing.

6 courses later, 1 bottle of plum wine and an awful lot of whiskey we saw in the new year. it was completely out of this world and i know that i’m an incredibly lucky girl for getting to experience this.

these are some of my favourite photos from the trip, and the 4 hour epic walk around the coastline and the abandoned railway. we met some really lovely and friendly people and i got some new wellies (which i am still wearing on a daily basis). i should really write more but whatever i type, i cannot do the experience justice. unlike some i don’t have a particular way with words. so yes, the pictures will have to do i’m afraid.
